The Annual Reception of the Society was held the Center for Fiction on January 30, 2014. The wine party reception featured a talk by Professor Elsie Michie of Louisiana State University. Her topic was “Matrimonial Cruelty in Anthony Trollope’s He Knew He Was Right and Frances Trollope’s Our Fault.”
Profession Michie is the Chair of the English Department at Louisiana State University and a distinguished Victorian Literature scholar and author. She has chosen a topic for our reception that addresses Trollope and his mother, of whom she has written often. Michie has contributed to the Cambridge Companion to Anthony Trollope, edited the forthcoming Oxford Press edition of The Domestic Manners of the Americans, and contributed to the Ashgate Research Companion to Anthony Trollope (2013), not to mention numerous articles and papers on either or both of this evening’s subject.
